If you run a business in India, accepting UPI payments is essential. A UPI QR code lets customers pay you instantly by scanning with Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or any UPI-enabled app. No card reader, no POS machine — just a printed QR code.
What is a UPI QR code?
UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is India's real-time payment system that allows instant bank-to-bank transfers via mobile phones. A UPI QR code encodes your UPI ID (like yourname@upi), your name, and optionally a fixed amount and payment note. When a customer scans it, their payment app opens with your details pre-filled.
How to create a UPI QR code
- Go to Qrafy's QR generator and select the UPI tab.
- Enter your UPI ID (e.g., yourname@okaxis, yourname@ybl).
- Enter your name (as the payee).
- Optionally enter a fixed amount and a payment note.
- Click "Generate QR Code" and download.
Where to display your UPI QR code
- Shop counter: Print and laminate it near the cash register
- Market stalls: Hang it prominently where customers can see it
- Delivery packaging: Include it for COD-to-digital payment conversion
- Invoices: Add the QR code to printed or digital invoices
- Online: Share it on your website or social media for remote payments
Tips for UPI QR codes
- Verify your UPI ID: Test by scanning and making a small payment to yourself before sharing.
- Leave the amount blank if customers pay different amounts. They can enter the amount manually after scanning.
- Set a fixed amount for subscription fees, fixed-price products, or donations.
- Print large enough: At least 5x5 cm for counter display so customers can scan from a comfortable distance.
Is it secure?
Yes. UPI QR codes only contain your payment address — they cannot be used to withdraw money from your account. The customer initiates the payment and must authenticate with their UPI PIN before any money moves. You receive the payment instantly in your bank account.
